Bye 2007 and hey 2008 !

Everyone had blogged about their past experience in the year of 2007 and jotted down their new year resolution whether on paper or planner or even blog. Year 2007 was indeed a good year for me. Too much of sweet, sour, bitter and spicy memories that I can't forget. I think God really blessed me with people around me that keep me going and financially support whenever I need them. Thank God that He protect me from danger and keep me from sickness of all time. New year resolution...lose weight, quit this and that, save money, learn this and that - all sounds so familiar to us. Can we do something different this year ? I am not sure, but I know this year is going to be different.

I have been staying with my uncle for more than 3 years and on the month of May, it will be 4th year staying together with him ! wow, that's pretty long enough for an infant to start walking by themself. Meaning that, it's time for me to be independent and stop the spoon feeding. I always loves to be independent but I don't know why people around me would think that I should be pampered. That's totally not true. They are so worried that I can't handle things and come on, I am 27 ! There a lot of times old people tends to give advice but as a nature respond of human beings - which is refuse to listen ! :p This year, I know that I am going to move out soon to my own new house; so I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to my relatives for taking care of me and I had learned a lot from them, really. I enjoy studying human psychology and interaction. So, no matter it's a tough one or an easy one, it has made a valuable meaning in my life. I would also like to apologize to them if I had hurt their feelings at time or most of the time.

House is going to be completed soon, so guess a lot of things need to be planned. In fact, it's completed but a few complaints for the defects and they are fixing it. Probably not going to move in during Chinese New Year since the renovation might take some time. Chinese New Year is around the corner and as for me - the prodigal son, had booked my ticket to fly back for Chinese New Year. A lot will agree that going back to Sibu for CNY is a great fun compare to any other place. Everywhere is crowded, "people mountain people sea"(chinese saying of overcrowded). You will hear a lot of firecrackers and lion dance. But, recently I think the fun just got lesser and lesser. Children grown up and they flew to oversea to study and work there. Many won't be able to come back and celebrate with their parents. In fact, their parents fly all the way to find their oversea children to celebrate together with them. This is not a new year resolution but I hope that we would be able to make it this year, it's 2008 - let's fly back to celebrate CNY together all Sibu-ian kiddos ! ;)

This year is going to be a year of difference, so I pray to God prepare my heart and march into the challenging year of 2008 ! Let's do it ! Joolz ! Jop ! Stoo !

a night at Starbucks during new year eve...

Still pondering for the year of 2007...

Coffee and Bones

People of today really takes coffee for the start of their day. Many of us really think that's a good thing and what's wrong about it, since it boosts our energy and keep us awake. Most of the time we never realize in other hand it has already affecting our life instead of giving us a bonus to our life. Coffee -> Bones, Coffee -> Bones ... yeah, I am talking about Coffee that affects our bones everyday if you do take coffee everyday. Still remember my previous post on my ridiculous result of my bone scanning ? I was at the border of osteoporosis, just imagine this at the age of 26. I have to admit that this is the effect of taking too much coffee. I was a heavy coffee-drinker, starting when I was at University.

Anyway, I went to my cousin's pharmacy and had my free bone scanning for another time during last month. Before it was my turn for the scanning, I was so nervous and worried that my reading will still be so negative. I was trying so hard to improve my bone stiffness - I quit drinking coffee and ends up drinking green tea, which is good and I started taking calcium tablet for my calcium supplementary.

...Tik Tok Tik Tok, its my turn
...start scanning...
...and result as below...

Yes, the result shows that I am back to normal! But my cousin told me that it's still not impressive as for the age of 26. You see the graph that separated with clear and dotted area ? Yeah, I was at the bottom of the dotted area last time. Now I am at the clear area~ the Z Score reads -0.0 ! Hurrayyy...

Anyway, I still need to continue to take my calcium until I reach the satisfactory level. The moral of the day is, do not take coffee every morning especially. It will wash away your calcium gradually. Try to replace it with green tea or something else. Don't take red tea(lipton, Tie Kwan Ing and so on) - it has the same effect as the coffee.

Alright, that's all folks.

My almighty maid

Do you have a maid at home ? How would you treat your maid if you do have one ... I am lucky enough to have a maid at home. She did everything for me. Yeah, I mean everything but excluding just only two items that I am doing it by myself - which are washing my underwear and bath my own !

I still can remember those day when my uncle let his maid go back to her hometown, just to let her family know that she is still alive . Normally it takes a week or two. But recently due to the change of maid, it took a month for us before we can have the new one coming. Just imagine suddenly you had lost both your hands ! oh my...we were so dependent on our maid.

During the month without maid, we need 5 to 6 persons(about 12 hands !) to help out for house chore. How can that be ? Why it only needs two hands when we have our maid back in place ? If she is not a almighty maid, then who she is ? Let me introduce our new almighty maid called WAIGINA(In hokkien, "my son" - wah eh gin na). So easy to remember, gosh !

Me and the almighty maid...

She loves to take a photo of herself beside my car, I don't know why...it was taken the next day after the above photo taking session. So, I think this "pose" really meant something to her. Hhhmmm...probably she washed my car every weekends, and that explained everything ? I don't know, she kept insist it :p

Hopefully after all her good work, we can really appreciate her and always give her encouragement and supports whenever we can. She is away from her family to earn some money for her daughter's marriage. See how a mother would sacrificed for her children. Too bad she is a Muslim, she can't take "the" food that we Chinese loves most :( What she need to do after preparation is to wash her hands and pray. We are quite tolerate in this sense where we try to have chicken and fish most of the time. She really loves to talk whenever she has opportunities. I can understand that when a person is kept in a house for more than 8 hours a day :p But sometimes I am so tired to listen ~ hahaha...

So, do you have a maid and how you torture treat her ?

Scary phenomenon

Last week, Kuching(in fact, all around the world that has the same timezone as Malaysia) had a very weird and scary phenomenon. Almost everyone in Kuching were rushing out from office and stunted at the phenomenon. Some say "The end of the world", some say "A spaceship is going to land soon, runnnn~!", some say "Wow! Syiok! cool man...", some say "It's Halo", some say "No no, it's eclipse!", and some say "Bad thing is going to happen soon...". For me, it's just a circle of rainbow surrounded the Sun and that's it. Yeah! that's it...Anyway, it's up to you to judge.

57 Cents

I was overjoyed when my company announced to me that I no longer need to involve in Weekend Support starting from this week. The reason of overjoyed is because I can go to Church again ! yay~ I still can remember last few months ago when I was at Aberdeen, I don't have a single chance to go to a church there. It's not that I am a Christian and that's why I want to go church. To me, going church is like a place where we can renew/refresh/F5(IT terms)/regain our hope/confess our sins and a lots more.

Today pastor was giving us a sermon "The beautiful thing". He was telling us a TRUE STORY of a little girl at dont-know-where. What I know is definitely a very poor country. She is still a young and innocent little girl where all of her relatives had gone(probably died in a war) including her parents. One day, a pastor came across this little girl and bring her to church and teaches her a lot things about Christianity during every Sunday School. She is very interested and came every week. After two weeks, she died because of her severe sickness. The pastor was very sad and went to the place where she lived. He found a piece of used paper which is folded properly on the floor. He unfold the wrapped paper and found 57 cents and a few words in the paper. It's her hand writing and she wrote(something like that) :

"Lord, I pray to you that I gave my 57 cents to you; so that you would help the pastor to build a bigger Church. So that, there will be more rooms for the Sunday School children."

The pastor was very touched while his tears kept flowing down and he wants to share this as a testimonial during the next Sunday Service. While he preached this, one of a youngster laughed and said "hah! what can you do with the 57 cents ? are you kidding ?". After a few days later, a young man came to him and said to the pastor, "Pastor, I would like to offer my big piece of land to you to build a bigger Church.". The pastor replied, "oh, young man thanks for the offer but our Church can't afford to buy that big piece of land". The young man replied, "I am selling it to you with the cost of that 57 cents."

At the end, our pastor was so emotional and was crying in front of the congregation. I almost cried also but I tell myself that I cannot cry because this is a public place ! and even my dad caned me for 100 times when I was small and yet I never cry ! I did cry in my heart though.

Well, anyway it's something for us to ponder. The faith in the little girl where she believed that one day the Church can buy a big piece of land to build a big Church with just 52 cents !

Weekdays morning activity

Did you ever go to the market with your parents even once in your life time ? or you just simply hate to go market because of the smelly fish that stinks !? Some of us choose to do shopping at a Supermarket where everything is so convenient but in terms of price of course it will be more expensive. Air-conditioned mar, what do you expect ? But personally thinks that food from supermarket are not as fresh as those you can get from the wet market ? Although they put a sign board saying "fresh"...aarrhhh, do you believe it ?

Almost every once of a week, I will be bringing my uncle to the wet market before I start my day at IDS. Sometimes I am quite pity to my uncle where he alone has to buy 8 person's portions of food to be ready for that particular week. 8 person's portion can be a lot ! Just imagine if he take everything by himself without my help. Even with my help, my finger also turns blue and purple ! His idea is to have a separate day of shopping each week. So he chose Wednesday morning(might vary at times) and Saturday evening.
This is the place where he always go for Wednesday morning shopping. Saturday evening also would be the same place but more variety and it's at the other side of the above location. I will be following his car to the market every Saturday evening but not this Saturday !(that's why ends up blogging here). He said he has something else to do, ask me no need to follow him. Ok, fair enough. The people from the market ALWAYS ask him the same questions "Eh? your son arr?", which makes me so embarrassing. Since my uncle has no voice to talk(gone through a cancer operation of his throat), I would probably need to explain to them. It can be very irritating at times.

Can you spot him in the picture ? :p he is wearing blue stripe T-shirt bargaining with people for the price. For your information, these people here are selling illegally without any license(Welcome to Malaysia). They are not suppose to sell it here since it's a parking place. But, they sell it very cheap(Terms and Conditions applied). They will be off after 9a.m. I have learned a lot from my uncle(I call him Ku Zhang) of how to buy good vegetables. So that next time when I move out from his house, I should be able to do it by my own.
Normally he will buy chicken, fish, and sometimes oyster from our famous Sarawak No.1 reseller of cold storage; namely CCK. I came across their delivery van that wrote something on it. It says "THE FOOD PEOPLE OF CHOICE" (It's definitely CHOICE even the "C" is missing). Is there anything wrong with the grammar ? Isn't it suppose to be named as "THE FOOD OF PEOPLE'S CHOICE" ?? @.@!? Not too sure as my grammar sucks too. Correct me if I am wrong !

Alright, that's all for my grandfather story.
