5 Reasons why I blog

Today is the last day of February and it's actually two months away from New Year ! Gosh, time really flies...Anyway, I just got tagged by StephenLim and this is the second time I got tagged by bloggers. Ok, let's see "why I blog".

5 Reasons (Only)

  1. Bor Pien(hokkien) - I still can recall that I was "forced" by StephenLim to start my own blog. I've been told that blogging is a place to express your feelings and thoughts where you wanted to share with someone else; or even someone that you might not know. But initially, I was so lazy to write something on the page and sometimes I find that I am "talking" to a PC(Not PC, ok - that's another story. What I mean is Personal Computer). To make the thing more worst, no one is reading what I wrote. (._."') But eventually, I started to blog because cannot stand StephenLim's nag anymore I want to store all of my sweet and sour memories here ! :p

  2. Too Much Free Time - While I was with my previous company, I would say my workload are much more lighter and less stress compare to most of the IT Company out there. You know why ? Because it's a government sector ! *no eyes to see*

  3. A place to store my photos - It's really a nice place to share photos with everyone.

  4. It's FREE ! - Yeah, everyone likes Free Stuff. If let's say today Blogger.com charged me money for every post I made, you won't be seeing this site anymore.

  5. Trend - It's the latest trends ! come on, if you do not own a blog now - do create one ! What are you waiting for !? ok, enough enough... Oopss...I hope Blogger.com would pay me for a small advertisement fees here.
hhmm...who to tag ?
Two enough lar...hehe

Lover's Day

Some couples treat everyday as their Valentine's Day. Some couples treat Valentine's Day as a very special day. Some couples treat Valentine's Day as just another celebration...and some just treat it as a normal day; especially those who got married.

Anyway, every year couples spend tens and hundreds just to celebrate "The Day". As usual, me and my gf would go out for a special dinner and gift exchange and so on. Usually we have steak and was thinking to have something different this year. Yeah, something real different for Valentine's Day. So...we went for Steamboat at "My House" restaurant ! It's an open space with roof of course(just in case it rains).

"The Pot"
wuahh...got big prawns and fish fillet

We chose asam soup...SsssLLLuuurrRRPppp~!!

Since I said this year's Valentine's Day need to be different, right ? So no flower lor hor? ...different marr... @.@ ! *gf long piak(banging head on the wall)* But then, I still got mine, yeay~!! *opening present excitedly*...and I got this !!!!!

Ok! errr...mai hiam du hor !
Besides that, I still received a Essence of chicken from her for my coming Birthday. Wuahh... *touched*

So, how do you celebrate yours !? :p

Highlight of the week

Xin nien lai lorr... Xin nien lai lorr...(it means New Year is around the corner). I believe everyone is preparing for Chinese New Year. No wonder most of the blogs that I frequently visited has no updates. Chinese New Year is around the corner(just a few days from the first day of Chinese New Year !!), so for those who had received your Bonus or Profit Sharing or Ang Pao this year, remember to count your blessings yeah ;)

I remember old folks always says that when you received Bonus or Ang Pao right, you cannot mention them out loud. You have better keep them silent or just whisper to each other. If you announced too loud and let your washing machine or your Car, or your air cond, or your Digicam, or your Handphone got the message; AND YOU WILL BE IN BIG TROUBLE !! BECAUSE THEY REALLY CAN UNDERSTAND IT AND THEY WILL COMMIT SUICIDE !! ...see what happen to me (see the following)

I were told by the mechanic that this is called "switch"
The burnt out part of the socket

The mechanic says that this actually happen to quite a number of same model of my car as well as "Potong Wila" which are all the latest model that our *humbly* Potong Automobil had produced. The mechanic also says that once you got this changed, it won't spoil anymore. Is this a some kind of marketing strategy ? darn it ! woe to Potong Automobil ! It cost me 220 bucks !

That switch basically controls all of my signal lights, wiper, front lights and so on. I can't even turn on my front lights and this is very dangerous if I am driving it during night time. So, the conclusion is - Don't support local made car if possible ! *puke* ! Chinese New Year is around the corner, so "PANDU CERMAT JIWA SELAMAT" and GONG XI FA CAI !!

When A Choice Is Not A Choice

Do you own a house ? How do you find it before you owned your very first house ? Those staying with parents no need to say lar...Well, I guess none of us would say it's easy. I think finding "the house" of your dream is kinda nonsense. There are always pros and cons on whichever house you are looking. There is no so-called Ultimate House or Perfect House. Yes, Dream House does exists...it's in your dream !

Let's see what's the criteria you need to observe before you can choose the house that really suits you. The criteria here might vary according to your financial background, superstitious, believing, and so on and so forth. Ok, let's have a look.

Top 10 Criteria to be observed for buying a house in Kuching
  1. Flood
  2. Price
  3. Type of house
  4. Distance from Town/Work
  5. Number of years left for land tenure
  6. Traffic Jam
  7. Noise
  8. Type of soil
  9. Superstitious
  10. Direction of Sun
Flood
For the past few years, Kuching was flooded for a few times. It was during Chinese New Year and it shocked everyone in Kuching. But there are only a few places left that was not flooded. So, they take that opportunity to increase the price of the houses ! Besides that, a lot of Si Bu Kia *cough* *cough* came out and causing the price of the house increased !

Price
Yeah, the price of materials keep increasing and yet nobody can stop this. Newspaper keep saying the price of the house will keep on increasing until the end of September this year. It says 15% more to be increased. That's bad. So, the longer you wait, the more you pay. So, to wait or not to wait ? wait is because we are still saving money ! No money how to buy house !? Another thing is our salary lor, if small salary how to buy ?

Type of house
Double Storey Semi-Detached ? Double Storey Intermediate Terrace ? Double Storey Corner Terrace ? Single Storey Semi-Detached ? Single Storey Intermediate Terrace ? Single Storey Corner Terrace ? Flat ? Apartment ? Condominium or Detached !? @.@!? Depends on your wallet lorr...the thicker wallet you have, the bigger type you choose lor...I think Flat, Apartment and Condominium are not recommended ! alang-alang lih~ I mean if possible don't buy those lar~

Distance from town/work
Distance is quite a problem as well. You just can't afford to pay the petrol and yet the price of the petrol is keep increasing at the same time. Goodness...So, cannot buy too far lor...ok, what's next ?

Number of years left for land tenure
Yes, you can buy a second hand house. Normally it's land tenure left 30 years, the most. By the time you finish paying, your land tenure also ended. duh ?

Traffic Jam
Traffic Jam is not that bad yet as compare to KL(Kuala Lumpur). But there are some places are quite jam in the morning as well as evening. So, are you ready to have KL-liked life at Kuching ? Then might as well go KL ? sigh...

Noise
Noise here represents a couple types of noises. It's either due to your house is too near to shophouses, main road, airport, in the eye of the city...and so on. So, do you mind those sounds ?

Type of soil
Yeah, this would be some group of people's main criteria or vice versa. If the soil is being filled by the developer for not more than 3 years and they started to build your house, you better be careful. Meaning that, it(your house) might cracked after a few years. So, it would be better to buy a hilly land house.

Superstitious
Some people look at "feng shui" and said that your house can not face a church where it's cross actually pointed sharp at your house. Besides this I believe there are more which I never came across. "Pantang this and pantang that". Check if there are cemetery nearby just in case you are scared of "friends" or "companion" during your night sleep.

Direction of Sun
This is quite important as well. As we know Sun rises from east and went down at west. So, make sure your bedroom is not facing west. Otherwise, you will be having an oven room during night time.

So, at the end of the day, NO NEED TO BUY !

New Age Greetings

Today is Sunday. Supposingly all of the Christian shall be going to Church as usual. Do you ever wonder why in Mandarin, they call Sunday as "li pai tien" ? We have "pai yi"(Monday), "pai er"(Tuesday), "pai san"(Wednesday), "pai shi"(Thursday), "pai wu"(Friday), "pai liu"(Saturday) and suddenly "li pai!!"(Sunday) ? How come not "pai chi"(Seventh day) ?!? and people used to say "juo li pai"(meaning having meeting at Church or simply go to Church)...it's worth while to ponder, anyway. Something to do with Christianity and yet everyone is using the term "li pai"(I am counting those non-believers in !).

Meanwhile, pastor always like us to greet each other before the service start. So today's way of greeting would be "God blessed you !"...So, everyone stand up and greet each other by saying "God blessed you !"...Pastor said greet the front, the back, the left and your right. So, everyone followed. In front of me sits a row of teenagers. I tried to greet them and they greet me back with a smile...arrhh, whatever. After that, when those teenagers greet with their friends sitting besides them, and guess what did they say ?

..."Yo, wassup man...wassup !?" ...oh well, is this the new age greetings at CHURCH ? I don't really dare to imagine if these bunch of people will be our future leader. Just imagine if the new age pastor said, "greet your brothers and sisters besides you with "Yo, man..wassup ? check it ...check it...yeah !" ..."

Well, you might think I am exagerating...BUT ! *speechless*...

Out of Order

I have been staying together with my aunt(dad's elder sister), I call her "ku ku"; for more than 2 years. I have learned a lot from both my uncle and aunt. They thought me a lot of life philosophies that I might not know. I have been enjoying my life here since they have a housemaid that gave me a lots of conveniences. Making breakfast for me every morning. I don't need to take care of my dishes, clothes, bed sheet, pillow sheet, room, and so on and so forth...

Anyway, we have just changed a new one beginning of this year. She was quite old but hardworking. I kinda like her as she is very cheerful and she can really clean the whole house by her own without complaining ! Though she is not really that good in cooking but still bearable. Though she has conversation problem with us since she is a Jawa~ian(simply Indonesian). Besides that, she is a muslim...No Pork, please ! :( That's not too bad as she always cook fish for herself.

...and she is now away from us to settle her passport since last Monday. So, every time when the housemaid is not around, my "ku ku" would basically need to do all of the house work *gulp*~ So, as I am staying with her, I just can't sit there looking her doing all the housework by herself. Well, it's a bit tired but it's fun to do housework together ! I would have gave up my time with my gf to do some housework and try to help my uncle as much as possible as he is a busy man ! :p he is a retiree but still a busy man ! He can't find himself sitting down there and doing nothing. He told me that's a waste of time...hahaha, well that's why FooChow are always richer than the rest of the Chinese races. They are just too hardworking.

Alright, today is Saturday but I still need to complete some of my work here(acting as a FooChow). Anyway, my company has three new comers...Welcome on board Benjamin, Adrian and Sim ! Looking forward to work with you guys !
